Memories

I recall the days when I was only just a boy
and heroes they looked all like my old man
summers filled with sunshine
and winters filled with snow
and a tooth ache was the worst thing you could get

the pictures of our family it seems an age ago
our widelined histories caught in a square
where Daddy’s eyes just told us jokes
and Mamma’s face just laughed
together we were raised in love and care

but now I only got the memories
they tell me how it’s been
when times were not as hard it seems to me
as I go over the photographs one things occurs to me
that worry was a word we never knew

faces grower younger with every page I turn
life’s expectation ‘s showing in our eyes
if we knew than what we know now
but it takes some time to learn
some things just go wrong no matter how you try

and now I only got the memories
they tell me how it’s been
when times were not as hard it seems to me
as I go over the photographs one things occurs to me
that worry was a word we never knew

the greatest secret of it all
was the time still to come
and no one could destroy our good belief

now I only got the memories
they tell me how it’s been
when times were not as hard it seems to me
as I go over the photographs one things occurs to me
that worry was a word we never knew
