It’s better to sleep
Through the echo’s of the night
I hear the loneliness blast
It roars through the empty streets
Swallows the hours much to fast
The echo’s of the night
Wipe away the thoughts of yesterday
Just leaving space and room for gloom
Covering up all I had to say
Yet it’s better to sleep
It’s better to sleep
As the present turns to past
Everything becomes one
Whether the outcome’s good or bad
At least it shows what we have done
The night’s my companion
She’s dragging by real slow
I can feel her arms around me
Together with the booze, she’s talking real low
As the bottle pours the last drink
And the blackbird calls for day
I long for dreams
To take my troubled mind away.
